Machu Picchu is amazing. However, do not take the train to Machu Picchu. You will have a much better experience if you do the 3-1/2 day trek up to Machu Picchu. You'll get there early in the morning to catch the sunrise, and be there before the hordes of tourists arriving there via buses/train. The trek is not difficult.

My hubby's family has decided to take everyone on a vacation to Hawaii for a week at the end of June 2009. We will be going to the Big Island, although I'm not sure where we are staying. The family includes his two parents, his brother and brother's wife, their two children (a 2 year old and a 7 year old, I believe), his other brother (19 years old), and the two of us. For Christmas, ...

I finally made it to a two week vacation, I wasn't sure if I would be able to take the time off due to business demands, but I am. I just booked a last minute deal to San Francisco and wondered if anybody has suggestions of what to see while I am there? Alcatraz is a definite. Is Fisherman's Wharf worth taking a look at?
