I am addicted to the boards.  Really.    Hello All, I've been a lurker and very irregular poster for awhile but now seem to posting about once a day (hmm, or less) and while I know that can not compare to most - I feel addicted, in a good way.  I check them constantly.  But do feel odd replying to them without the intro as you all seem close.   I have to say I enjoy this board very ...

La Señora Mariposa claims to have the most beautiful bathroom in all of America.  I think I do. I painted the new bead board with a pearlized white paint and hung a loose string of beads (also pearlized and kind of branch like) across both small windows.  I have pale purple towels and rug.  An old pen & ink drawing of a mill (think flour) and a beveled mirror.

Former lurker here with a Christmas gift-giving question:  My DH loves to give gifts - an admirable characteristic, but it's getting a little awkward.  We have 2 sons, 2 DILs, and 4 grandchildren.  Last year, one DIL suggested that, to save money and stress, we buy Christmas gifts only for the children and perhaps draw names among the adults.  All agreed that this was a great idea; however, DH ...

I know this post does not belong here, but the pregnancy board has NO moderators whatsoever and we need someone to take care of the current situation.  There seems to be a d.o.u.c.h.e.b.a.g hanging out there for the past several days posting random idiotic posts with links to viruses.  Several people have clicked on the links and their virus protection has picked it up, but others may not be so...

My husband and I invited a couple over for dinner.  We decided upon the main course and I let him know that one of our guests liked their steaks more to the done side than we normally serve ours.  At this point my husband hit the crazy button and stated he would not serve a steak done, but would instead offer the guest a hamburger.    It was then my turn to hit the crazy button.  In my ...

Ladies (and any fashionable men who want to participate), I found a pair of shoes I love.  However, of the things I own, I don't know what to wear with it.  So, here are the shoes... Cute Shoes    I prefer the slate colored to the black.  Any ideas on what to wear with them?  I get a vacation paycheck in a few weeks and I may buy them. edited to fix link

We're getting ready to move into a home that we've just built.  I'd love to throw a housewarming party to get to know our neighbors and to let family and friends know they're always welcome in our home.  I'm going to provide snacks and drinks (nothing major).  I want everyone to know we don't expect housewarming gifts.  My questions are these: Do people even give housewarming gifts anymore? and ...

I found this in a old reading book I picked up at an auction.  "The eleven year old author of this imagined what it would be like to receive all the gifts detailed in the Twelve Days of Christmas.  Her story is told through letters and her characters include Lord Gilbert, the gift giver, and Lady Katherine Huntington, the letter writer:" "December 25th, 1895:  Dear Lord Gilbert, How delighted...

I did not want to hijack Cary On's thread.  How did we all survive our childhoods? We slept on our stomache as infants Had bumperpads in our cribs Never wore a helmet when riding a bike Didn't wear a seatbelt and stood up in the car or rode in our mothers lap Ate eggs, honey and peanutbutter as soon as we had teeth Shot BB guns at each other Threw buckeys and pinecones and snow ...

I was at Wal-Mart yesterday looking at boots and picking up some more Jimmy Dean "Sausage and Pancake on a stick"  (Yummy!!) Then I noticed they were already playing Christmas music!    ARRRRGH!!!! But, that's not the most interesting thing.  You know you can get about anything you need at Wal-Mart - and the Wal-Mart near me has now opened up two dentist offices inside the Wal- Mart. On Thursday evening I lost my best friend. My Toby dog died in my arms at the vets office. Since then people won't let me have more than an hour without thinking about it. We have been getting many phone calls from people expressing their condolences which I understand they are doing to be nice but I don't need the constant reminding. Is there something wrong with me that I don't want to ...

Hi guys. I know there's been lots of questions about baby showers and holiday etiquette floating around lately but this question revolves around both.   One of my best friends has asked/offered to throw me a baby shower. Looks like an active board this evening!  I could use a little advice.  I have posted about infertility here before but it's not something I'm comfortable bringing here anymore--but it's kind of related in this case.  When on fertility drugs, and obviously when pregnant, drinking is not allowed.  Since my miscarriage DH and I haven't talked about the babies or infertility/treatments with ANYONE...

It's been such a long time since I've started a new thread-but do I ever have a question for you lovely ladies and gents. Alice is great, we get along wonderfully and have the same kind of temperment and lifestyle. Rosalie, on the other hand, is quickly ...

The other night, my DH came to pick me up from a party.   I was later than I said I would be and his friend was waiting to go to the airport.   It was getting quite tight, timewise but friend said it was fine, as long as we were quick.   To cut story short, girl friend asks me to give drunken lady a lift and out of politeness I said yes.   Drunken lady disappears into the bathroom for ages.   ...

There are times I find myself in a conversation with a person who will not stop talking (Ok, said person is my mother).  Not even a moment to take a breath it sometimes seems.  Any attempts to interject with a "but..." or "excuse me" are not even heard because person (aka, mom) just keeps right on talking.  I'm getting frustrated and apparently so is my dad who has taken to starting his own ...
