Socialized Medicine...what will happen if Obama changes the US health care system like he says he will and turns it into socialized medicine or something similar? What will the ramifications be for us nurses?

From The American Prospect: Indeed, we have brand new data. The Commonwealth Fund just released a broad survey collecting health care attitudes and experiences from patients in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Here are summaries of some of the findings: 1. We spend the most. We spend more than ...

I decided to start a new thread because the others take a completely different spin. I am by no means well versed on this subject, but from my limited understanding universal healthcare isn't a bad thing. I personally do not mind paying higher taxes if my healthcare is already paid for. I'm a student now, but when I did have health insurance I rarely went to the doctor becuase of the ...

I am simply amazed at how shallow a lot of we nurses have become. I graduated from nursing school in 1974 and was taught that nurses were the bravest working people on the face of the earth! We are not afraid to touch, care for, or assist anyone back to heahth; we do respect the diseases we come in contact with and use iniversal precautions to the best of our ability. I guess that is why I ...

This report strengthens that belief. The issue is not simple, to be sure, but the status quo just seems so wrong on ...

Amen This is just I wanted to say but you said it with elegance. Anything the gov runs already is broken except for their own health & retirement plans thank you for the input. Most of us nurses are care givers & have the need fix & repair, but do not look @ how the long term will effect us.

I am a big fan of univeral healthcare. HOWEVER, I feel that our new president will need to focus on fixing our deficit first before figuring out how to pay for something so huge. Also, I know that a lot of people are against government involvement. Including me I hate the seatbelt law hehehe. So what if our government got involved in a much smaller way to start out with? What if all ...
