... I know there are some other threads on this topic but any relevant information gets buried. The S100fs can suffer CA and PF. Several 'fixes' have been posted including a very good and easy one by Dame Blanche. Refer here : http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1 012&message=29002091 Just to show what I am getting in very bright conditions and with a Hoya Pro 1 polariser...

Thanks for the tip off on this interesting Gimp version. Would be great for someone who knows Photoshop. However, I think the Windows version 2.4.6 downloadable from here: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html is a better bet. It's a lot faster and the screen resolution of pix is noticeably smoother. Also has the wonderfully useful healing tool for scan clean ups etc.

Interesting ...I haven't looked at The Gimp ...I thought it was just for those with linux based operating systems. I just visited their site and have a couple of questions I didn't find answers to there: 1. will The Gimp process RAW files shot with the s100fs? (note: I checked the list of supported cameras on the UFRaw site and it isn't listed there) 2. does it have any HDR functionality ...

Just sayin' ... you have always seemed challenged to get the little details right, and this is appears different. By the way ... nice job of cranking the blue channel in that second last image ... I needed sun glasses to look at it :-) See my real reply to your tirade / crusade in the other "can it be this bad?" thread ... -- http://letkeman.net/Photos http://kimletkeman.blogspot.com...

Quite simple ... you display the image in photoshop or equivalent at 100% (CS3 will tell you when you are there) ... you then crop from the screen using a 3rd party application, I use quick screen shot maker. No possible way to make a ...

... Many thanks. I knew I must be doing something wrong. I'm using CS2 (not CS3) - Maybe this is why my 100% crops, of any image I have ever cropped, do not look like they are 100% - Even though they are 100%. Duhhh ! -- Rgds, Dave.
