UPDATED Sat Aug 16 2008 04:55:36 [REC]: One of the best modern horror films, scary *beep* ! Zombie Strippers: A darn good grindhouse flick. The idea is stupid but it adds to the film. Unfinished Sky: It's more of a thriller/drama, but at the time of watching I found it VERY creepy and it got me more thrilled than some of the other modern horror crap. The Strangers: ...

Also; Cloverfield and The Ruins. I never did get round to seeing The Orphanage, but I haven't heard a bad word about it yet. When I was younger, my Mum walked in on me hugging... a HOOVER!!

UPDATED Sat Aug 16 2008 06:03:45 My favorite horror film of 2008 is Gutterballs, followed by The Strangers, Cloverfield, Untracable, The Ruins, Midnight Meat Train, and Otis "It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again"-Buffalo Bill

Cloverfield and The Ruins. Excellent choices, I was amazed how much I enjoyed both of them. I would also recommend Otis http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0996967/

My top 15: 1. El Orfanato - The best horror film since 28 Days Later and the best 'ghost story' since The Sixth Sense. This film captured me from the beginning and holds the title of being one of the only horror films to ever make me publicly cry. And I'm not ashamed of it. One of the most powerful films I've seen in a long, long, long time. Why haven't you seen it yet? 2. Inside...

How can you love Gutterballs?? Yes it has very cool death scenes, but the dialogue was the worst ever. Way too much swearing. and bad acting too.

I have to agree with you there. Whilst Gutterballs had entertaining death scenes and an interesting setting, those were the only things that the movie had going for it. The acting was awful, and the dialogue was some of the worst ever and it was inredibly insulting. Not insulting as in I was insulted by the jokes, but as a screenwriter, dialogue can be hard to write and with ...

Cloverfield : This is without doubt the best horror movie of 2008 so far. Scary and intense. Zombie Strippers : Acting and plot could be better, but the gore is really well made and It was really fun to sit through. The Cottage : Incredible mix of comedy and horror. The Ruins : this one was great , good acting and amazing gore scenes.

It was just a fun film I agree that it was quite poorly made. Incest ? don't we mean win-cest ?

UPDATED Sat Aug 16 2008 20:37:32 I guess horror's popularity is dying down again. A year or two ago, there seemed to be an R-rated horror movie released nationwide every week. Granted, most of them sucked, but there were some gems (The Descent, Grindhouse, etc.). Now a horror film is released once every few months, and it's hit or miss. It could be worse though: When I was a...
