Hi! I'll be at the American College of Chest Physicians conference in Philadelphia and attending a symposium on Spiriva & cardiac risks. Are there any questions anyone wants me to ask as there will be a Q&A session & most of those attending will be physicians and researchers. Aloha, Starion

I have been on both Spiriva and Advair for nearly two years now, taking each medication daily. Spiriva in a powder form and Advair (230/21) 2 puffs 2 x daily inhaled. It does seem to have helped my asthma/COPD, but what I am noticing now is the constant aches and pains my body seems to have - even after a night's sleep . I wake up with my body hurting. I have thought, okay, ...

I have been waiting for the results from the 4 year clinical trials for Spiriva and the preliminary results are just out. http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/081005/ny37059.html?.v =1 The bit I was really hoping for was a decrease in the rate of lung function decline. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. From the link: "Results of the UPLIFT trial showed that SPIRIVA...

Awesome news for Spiriva! I have noticed recently that Advair has been removed from several PDL's for COPD. Most P & T folks still voicing major concerns about overuse, costs, LABA adverse events and long-term side effects from ICS's associated with Advair. However, we're also hearing from PUDs that a combination of LABA and anticholinergic will be the gold standard for COPD tx.

My asthma is finally controlled after suffering 3 mos. after my first hospitalized attack. I am taking Spiriva once per day, Pulmicort Inhaler 2-3 puffs twice per day. (I increase to 3 puffs/2x's a day if I feel coughing coming on, then go back to 2 puffs/2x's a day). How long will I need to take these meds? Will I eventually try and stop one, then the other?

Replying to: When to stop maintenance Meds It's great that your asthma is getting better controlled. As Dr. E would say, please read a good book on Asthma, such as one by Tom Plautt http://boards.webmd.com/webx?THDX@@.59ab56cc!thdch ild=.59ab56cc Work closely with your doc, asking what the plan is for you to try gradually stepping down therapy so that you are on the lowest doses that ...
